Frequently Asked Questions

Are you taking new clients?

Yes, I have a few available openings and would love to meet with you!

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be for anyone. Therapy can be for anyone that is having a hard time focusing due to depression, anxiety, or trauma, or can be for those who are unmotivated, unhappy and low about themselves. If you feel that you’ve been having a difficult time experiencing happiness, have been feeling stuck, and your regular coping does not seem to be working for you, then it might be a good idea to consider seeking treatment.

What should I expect on my first session?

If you’re unable to fill out the intake paperwork prior to the first visit, I will ask you to arrive 15 minutes early to complete the necessary paperwork. During our first session, we discuss reasons why you are coming to treatment, what you are experiencing, and we will talk about your goals for being in therapy. I tend to jump right into the your concerns, giving you the opportunity to express what it is that you need at the first session.

How frequent are sessions and how long will therapy last?

I encourage clients to come to therapy once a week for a 50-minute session for at least the first six weeks.

Therapy lasts for as long as it is helpful. I tend to work with clients long-term (for a year or more).

How much does a therapy session cost?

$165 - 50 minute Individual Therapy Session

I practice on a sliding scale on a limited basis if you cannot afford my full fee.

Do you take insurance?

I have made the decision to not be a participating provider for any insurance companies. My intention as a provider is to work directly with you and not the insurance company. Clients often prefer to work with a therapist outside of their insurance plans for many reasons:

  • Mental health diagnosis is not mandatory and not submitted to your private health records.

  • No limit on amount of sessions or time of your session.

  • We can decide on the methods we will use and the length of time we will work together, rather than a third party making these decisions.

While I do not accept insurance at this time, I am able to provide superbills to clients to access out-of-network reimbursement.

Insurance plans vary, so please check with your insurance company to learn about your coverage for Out-of-Network Providers.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. The full session fee will be charged for missed appointments and cancellations with less than 24 hour notice. I do waive two missed session per calendar year.

Is therapy confidential?

I adhere to a strict confidentiality policy in which I will not disclose any information you provide to me unless I have your written permission. There are a few exceptions in which I am mandated by the law to break confidentiality, which are explained in my professional disclosure statement and our first session.
